The Institute of Ship Technology and the Chair of Mechatronics of the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Institute of Automatic Control of the RWTH Aachen University and the Development Center for Ship Technology in Duisburg will organise the fourth Autonomous Inland and Short Sea Shipping Conference (AISS 2022) to be held in Duisburg/Germany on 19th and 20th September 2022.

The Autonomous Inland and Short Sea Shipping Conference was established in 2019 as an annual conference. The conference promotes technical and scientific exchange among industry, academia and authorities in the fields of autonomous inland and short sea shipping as well as port logistics, smart waterborne logistics and related subjects. Contributions related to autonomous shipping, on-board assistance systems, sensor technology, recognition, regulations, test areas, smart port systems, port  automation, traffic planning, traffic simulation and optimisation, system control, etc. are very welcome.

Call for abstracts

Please submit an abstract containing no more than 500 words and a maximum of two figures using the template from the conference website. Upon abstract acceptance, you may prepare an extended abstract using the paper template and submit it to the mentioned email address. Abstracts will be published on the conference website. Extended abstracts will be published open access via DuEPublico.

Please consider the following deadlines:

  • Abstract submission deadline 29th July 2022
  • Notification of acceptance 15th August 2022
  • Extended abstract submission deadline 12th September 2022

Conference registration

Participants, including presenting authors, are kindly asked to register using the conference registration website. The conference program will be published shortly after authors have been informed about abstract acceptance. Please consider the following  dates:

  • Conference registration until 5th September 2022
  • Program output 19th August 2022
  • Conference 19th and 20th September 2022

The conference fee is 200 € per person and includes coffee breaks, the conference dinner on 19th September and lunch on 20th September as well as publication costs.
